Genesis 27:40
"By your sword you shall live, And your brother you shall serve; But it shall come about when you become restless, That you will break his yoke from your neck."
2 Samuel 8:14
He put garrisons in Edom. In all Edom he put garrisons, and all the Edomites became servants to David. And the LORD helped David wherever he went.
1 Kings 22:47
Now there was no king in Edom; a deputy was king.
1 Chronicles 18:13
Then he put garrisons in Edom, and all the Edomites became servants to David. And the LORD helped David wherever he went.

Psalm 60:9
Who will bring me into the besieged city? Who will lead me to Edom?
Psalm 83:5-15
5
For they have conspired together with one mind; Against You they make a covenant:
6
The tents of Edom and the Ishmaelites, Moab and the Hagrites;
7
Gebal and Ammon and Amalek, Philistia with the inhabitants of Tyre;
8
Assyria also has joined with them; They have become a help to the children of Lot. Selah.
9
Deal with them as with Midian, As with Sisera [and] Jabin at the torrent of Kishon,
10
Who were destroyed at En-dor, Who became as dung for the ground.
11
Make their nobles like Oreb and Zeeb And all their princes like Zebah and Zalmunna,
12
Who said, "Let us possess for ourselves The pastures of God."
13
O my God, make them like the whirling dust, Like chaff before the wind.
14
Like fire that burns the forest And like a flame that sets the mountains on fire,
15
So pursue them with Your tempest And terrify them with Your storm.
Isaiah 34:1-17
1
Draw near, O nations, to hear; and listen, O peoples! Let the earth and all it contains hear, and the world and all that springs from it.
2
For the LORD'S indignation is against all the nations, And [His] wrath against all their armies; He has utterly destroyed them, He has given them over to slaughter.
3
So their slain will be thrown out, And their corpses will give off their stench, And the mountains will be drenched with their blood.
4
And all the host of heaven will wear away, And the sky will be rolled up like a scroll; All their hosts will also wither away As a leaf withers from the vine, Or as [one] withers from the fig tree.
5
For My sword is satiated in heaven, Behold it shall descend for judgment upon Edom And upon the people whom I have devoted to destruction.
6
The sword of the LORD is filled with blood, It is sated with fat, with the blood of lambs and goats, With the fat of the kidneys of rams. For the LORD has a sacrifice in Bozrah And a great slaughter in the land of Edom.
7
Wild oxen will also fall with them And young bulls with strong ones; Thus their land will be soaked with blood, And their dust become greasy with fat.
8
For the LORD has a day of vengeance, A year of recompense for the cause of Zion.
9
Its streams will be turned into pitch, And its loose earth into brimstone, And its land will become burning pitch.
10
It will not be quenched night or day; Its smoke will go up forever. From generation to generation it will be desolate; None will pass through it forever and ever.
11
But pelican and hedgehog will possess it, And owl and raven will dwell in it; And He will stretch over it the line of desolation And the plumb line of emptiness.
12
Its nobles-- there is no one there [Whom] they may proclaim king-- And all its princes will be nothing.
13
Thorns will come up in its fortified towers, Nettles and thistles in its fortified cities; It will also be a haunt of jackals [And] an abode of ostriches.
14
The desert creatures will meet with the wolves, The hairy goat also will cry to its kind; Yes, the night monster will settle there And will find herself a resting place.
15
The tree snake will make its nest and lay [eggs] there, And it will hatch and gather [them] under its protection. Yes, the hawks will be gathered there, Every one with its kind.
16
Seek from the book of the LORD, and read: Not one of these will be missing; None will lack its mate. For His mouth has commanded, And His Spirit has gathered them.
17
He has cast the lot for them, And His hand has divided it to them by line. They shall possess it forever; From generation to generation they will dwell in it.
Isaiah 63:1-6
1
Who is this who comes from Edom, With garments of glowing colors from Bozrah, This One who is majestic in His apparel, Marching in the greatness of His strength? "It is I who speak in righteousness, mighty to save."
2
Why is Your apparel red, And Your garments like the one who treads in the wine press?
3
"I have trodden the wine trough alone, And from the peoples there was no man with Me. I also trod them in My anger And trampled them in My wrath; And their lifeblood is sprinkled on My garments, And I stained all My raiment.
4
"For the day of vengeance was in My heart, And My year of redemption has come.
5
"I looked, and there was no one to help, And I was astonished and there was no one to uphold; So My own arm brought salvation to Me, And My wrath upheld Me.
6
"I trod down the peoples in My anger And made them drunk in My wrath, And I poured out their lifeblood on the earth."
Jeremiah 49:7-22
7
Concerning Edom. Thus says the LORD of hosts, "Is there no longer any wisdom in Teman? Has good counsel been lost to the prudent? Has their wisdom decayed?
8
"Flee away, turn back, dwell in the depths, O inhabitants of Dedan, For I will bring the disaster of Esau upon him At the time I punish him.
9
"If grape gatherers came to you, Would they not leave gleanings? If thieves [came] by night, They would destroy [only] until they had enough.
10
"But I have stripped Esau bare, I have uncovered his hiding places So that he will not be able to conceal himself; His offspring has been destroyed along with his relatives And his neighbors, and he is no more.
11
"Leave your orphans behind, I will keep [them] alive; And let your widows trust in Me."
12
For thus says the LORD, "Behold, those who were not sentenced to drink the cup will certainly drink [it], and are you the one who will be completely acquitted? You will not be acquitted, but you will certainly drink [it].
13
"For I have sworn by Myself," declares the LORD, "that Bozrah will become an object of horror, a reproach, a ruin and a curse; and all its cities will become perpetual ruins."
14
I have heard a message from the LORD, And an envoy is sent among the nations, [saying], "Gather yourselves together and come against her, And rise up for battle!"
15
"For behold, I have made you small among the nations, Despised among men.
16
"As for the terror of you, The arrogance of your heart has deceived you, O you who live in the clefts of the rock, Who occupy the height of the hill. Though you make your nest as high as an eagle's, I will bring you down from there," declares the LORD.
17
"Edom will become an object of horror; everyone who passes by it will be horrified and will hiss at all its wounds.
18
"Like the overthrow of Sodom and Gomorrah with its neighbors," says the LORD, "no one will live there, nor will a son of man reside in it.
19
"Behold, one will come up like a lion from the thickets of the Jordan against a perennially watered pasture; for in an instant I will make him run away from it, and whoever is chosen I shall appoint over it. For who is like Me, and who will summon Me [into court]? And who then is the shepherd who can stand against Me?"
20
Therefore hear the plan of the LORD which He has planned against Edom, and His purposes which He has purposed against the inhabitants of Teman: surely they will drag them off, [even] the little ones of the flock; surely He will make their pasture desolate because of them.
21
The earth has quaked at the noise of their downfall. There is an outcry! The noise of it has been heard at the Red Sea.
22
Behold, He will mount up and swoop like an eagle and spread out His wings against Bozrah; and the hearts of the mighty men of Edom in that day will be like the heart of a woman in labor.
Ezekiel 25:12-14
12
'Thus says the Lord GOD, "Because Edom has acted against the house of Judah by taking vengeance, and has incurred grievous guilt, and avenged themselves upon them,"
13
therefore thus says the Lord GOD, "I will also stretch out My hand against Edom and cut off man and beast from it. And I will lay it waste; from Teman even to Dedan they will fall by the sword.
14
"I will lay My vengeance on Edom by the hand of My people Israel. Therefore, they will act in Edom according to My anger and according to My wrath; thus they will know My vengeance," declares the Lord GOD.
Ezekiel 35:1-15
1
Moreover, the word of the LORD came to me saying,
2
"Son of man, set your face against Mount Seir, and prophesy against it
3
and say to it, 'Thus says the Lord GOD, "Behold, I am against you, Mount Seir, And I will stretch out My hand against you And make you a desolation and a waste.
4
"I will lay waste your cities And you will become a desolation. Then you will know that I am the LORD.
5
"Because you have had everlasting enmity and have delivered the sons of Israel to the power of the sword at the time of their calamity, at the time of the punishment of the end,
6
therefore as I live," declares the Lord GOD, "I will give you over to bloodshed, and bloodshed will pursue you; since you have not hated bloodshed, therefore bloodshed will pursue you.
7
"I will make Mount Seir a waste and a desolation and I will cut off from it the one who passes through and returns.
8
"I will fill its mountains with its slain; on your hills and in your valleys and in all your ravines those slain by the sword will fall.
9
"I will make you an everlasting desolation and your cities will not be inhabited. Then you will know that I am the LORD.
10
"Because you have said, 'These two nations and these two lands will be mine, and we will possess them,' although the LORD was there,
11
therefore as I live," declares the Lord GOD, "I will deal [with you] according to your anger and according to your envy which you showed because of your hatred against them; so I will make Myself known among them when I judge you.
12
"Then you will know that I, the LORD, have heard all your revilings which you have spoken against the mountains of Israel saying, 'They are laid desolate; they are given to us for food.'
13
"And you have spoken arrogantly against Me and have multiplied your words against Me; I have heard [it]."
14
'Thus says the Lord GOD, "As all the earth rejoices, I will make you a desolation.
15
"As you rejoiced over the inheritance of the house of Israel because it was desolate, so I will do to you. You will be a desolation, O Mount Seir, and all Edom, all of it. Then they will know that I am the LORD."'
Amos 1:11
Thus says the LORD, "For three transgressions of Edom and for four I will not revoke its [punishment], Because he pursued his brother with the sword, While he stifled his compassion; His anger also tore continually, And he maintained his fury forever.
Amos 1:12
"So I will send fire upon Teman And it will consume the citadels of Bozrah."
Obadiah 1:1-16
1
The vision of Obadiah. Thus says the Lord GOD concerning Edom-- We have heard a report from the LORD, And an envoy has been sent among the nations [saying], "Arise and let us go against her for battle "--
2
"Behold, I will make you small among the nations; You are greatly despised.
3
"The arrogance of your heart has deceived you, You who live in the clefts of the rock, In the loftiness of your dwelling place, Who say in your heart, 'Who will bring me down to earth?'
4
"Though you build high like the eagle, Though you set your nest among the stars, From there I will bring you down," declares the LORD.
5
"If thieves came to you, If robbers by night-- O how you will be ruined!-- Would they not steal [only] until they had enough? If grape gatherers came to you, Would they not leave [some] gleanings?
6
"O how Esau will be ransacked, [And] his hidden treasures searched out!
7
"All the men allied with you Will send you forth to the border, And the men at peace with you Will deceive you and overpower you. [They who eat] your bread Will set an ambush for you. (There is no understanding in him.)
8
"Will I not on that day," declares the LORD, "Destroy wise men from Edom And understanding from the mountain of Esau?
9
"Then your mighty men will be dismayed, O Teman, So that everyone may be cut off from the mountain of Esau by slaughter.
10
"Because of violence to your brother Jacob, You will be covered [with] shame, And you will be cut off forever.
11
"On the day that you stood aloof, On the day that strangers carried off his wealth, And foreigners entered his gate And cast lots for Jerusalem-- You too were as one of them.
12
"Do not gloat over your brother's day, The day of his misfortune. And do not rejoice over the sons of Judah In the day of their destruction; Yes, do not boast In the day of [their] distress.
13
"Do not enter the gate of My people In the day of their disaster. Yes, you, do not gloat over their calamity In the day of their disaster. And do not loot their wealth In the day of their disaster.
14
"Do not stand at the fork of the road To cut down their fugitives; And do not imprison their survivors In the day of their distress.
15
"For the day of the LORD draws near on all the nations. As you have done, it will be done to you. Your dealings will return on your own head.
16
"Because just as you drank on My holy mountain, All the nations will drink continually. They will drink and swallow And become as if they had never existed.
Malachi 1:2-5
2
"I have loved you," says the LORD. But you say, "How have You loved us?" "[Was] not Esau Jacob's brother?" declares the LORD. "Yet I have loved Jacob;
3
but I have hated Esau, and I have made his mountains a desolation and [appointed] his inheritance for the jackals of the wilderness."
4
Though Edom says, "We have been beaten down, but we will return and build up the ruins"; thus says the LORD of hosts, "They may build, but I will tear down; and [men] will call them the wicked territory, and the people toward whom the LORD is indignant forever."
5
Your eyes will see this and you will say, "The LORD be magnified beyond the border of Israel!"
Romans 9:10-13
10
And not only this, but there was Rebekah also, when she had conceived [twins] by one man, our father Isaac;
11
for though [the twins] were not yet born and had not done anything good or bad, so that God's purpose according to [His] choice would stand, not because of works but because of Him who calls,
12
it was said to her, "THE OLDER WILL SERVE THE YOUNGER."
13
Just as it is written, "JACOB I LOVED, BUT ESAU I HATED."
