Matthew 11:20-22
20
Then He began to denounce the cities in which most of His miracles were done, because they did not repent.
21
"Woe to you, Chorazin! Woe to you, Bethsaida! For if the miracles had occurred in Tyre and Sidon which occurred in you, they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes.
22
"Nevertheless I say to you, it will be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon in [the] day of judgment than for you.
for
Ezekiel 3:6
nor to many peoples of unintelligible speech or difficult language, whose words you cannot understand. But I have sent you to them who should listen to you;
Ezekiel 3:7
yet the house of Israel will not be willing to listen to you, since they are not willing to listen to Me. Surely the whole house of Israel is stubborn and obstinate.
Acts 28:25-28
25
And when they did not agree with one another, they [began] leaving after Paul had spoken one [parting] word, "The Holy Spirit rightly spoke through Isaiah the prophet to your fathers,
26
saying, 'GO TO THIS PEOPLE AND SAY, "YOU WILL KEEP ON HEARING, BUT WILL NOT UNDERSTAND; AND YOU WILL KEEP ON SEEING, BUT WILL NOT PERCEIVE;
27
FOR THE HEART OF THIS PEOPLE HAS BECOME DULL, AND WITH THEIR EARS THEY SCARCELY HEAR, AND THEY HAVE CLOSED THEIR EYES; OTHERWISE THEY MIGHT SEE WITH THEIR EYES, AND HEAR WITH THEIR EARS, AND UNDERSTAND WITH THEIR HEART AND RETURN, AND I WOULD HEAL THEM."'
28
"Therefore let it be known to you that this salvation of God has been sent to the Gentiles; they will also listen."
Romans 9:29-33
29
And just as Isaiah foretold, "UNLESS THE LORD OF SABAOTH HAD LEFT TO US A POSTERITY, WE WOULD HAVE BECOME LIKE SODOM, AND WOULD HAVE RESEMBLED GOMORRAH."
30
What shall we say then? That Gentiles, who did not pursue righteousness, attained righteousness, even the righteousness which is by faith;
31
but Israel, pursuing a law of righteousness, did not arrive at [that] law.
32
Why? Because [they did] not [pursue it] by faith, but as though [it were] by works. They stumbled over the stumbling stone,
33
just as it is written, "BEHOLD, I LAY IN ZION A STONE OF STUMBLING AND A ROCK OF OFFENSE, AND HE WHO BELIEVES IN HIM WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED."
Romans 11:8-11
8
just as it is written, "GOD GAVE THEM A SPIRIT OF STUPOR, EYES TO SEE NOT AND EARS TO HEAR NOT, DOWN TO THIS VERY DAY."
9
And David says, "LET THEIR TABLE BECOME A SNARE AND A TRAP, AND A STUMBLING BLOCK AND A RETRIBUTION TO THEM.
10
"LET THEIR EYES BE DARKENED TO SEE NOT, AND BEND THEIR BACKS FOREVER."
11
I say then, they did not stumble so as to fall, did they? May it never be! But by their transgression salvation [has come] to the Gentiles, to make them jealous.

Tyre
Isaiah 23:1-18
1
The oracle concerning Tyre. Wail, O ships of Tarshish, For [Tyre] is destroyed, without house [or] harbor; It is reported to them from the land of Cyprus.
2
Be silent, you inhabitants of the coastland, You merchants of Sidon; Your messengers crossed the sea
3
And [were] on many waters. The grain of the Nile, the harvest of the River was her revenue; And she was the market of nations.
4
Be ashamed, O Sidon; For the sea speaks, the stronghold of the sea, saying, "I have neither travailed nor given birth, I have neither brought up young men [nor] reared virgins."
5
When the report [reaches] Egypt, They will be in anguish at the report of Tyre.
6
Pass over to Tarshish; Wail, O inhabitants of the coastland.
7
Is this your jubilant [city], Whose origin is from antiquity, Whose feet used to carry her to colonize distant places?
8
Who has planned this against Tyre, the bestower of crowns, Whose merchants were princes, whose traders were the honored of the earth?
9
The LORD of hosts has planned it, to defile the pride of all beauty, To despise all the honored of the earth.
10
Overflow your land like the Nile, O daughter of Tarshish, There is no more restraint.
11
He has stretched His hand out over the sea, He has made the kingdoms tremble; The LORD has given a command concerning Canaan to demolish its strongholds.
12
He has said, "You shall exult no more, O crushed virgin daughter of Sidon. Arise, pass over to Cyprus; even there you will find no rest."
13
Behold, the land of the Chaldeans-- this is the people [which] was not; Assyria appointed it for desert creatures-- they erected their siege towers, they stripped its palaces, they made it a ruin.
14
Wail, O ships of Tarshish, For your stronghold is destroyed.
15
Now in that day Tyre will be forgotten for seventy years like the days of one king. At the end of seventy years it will happen to Tyre as [in] the song of the harlot:
16
Take [your] harp, walk about the city, O forgotten harlot; Pluck the strings skillfully, sing many songs, That you may be remembered.
17
It will come about at the end of seventy years that the LORD will visit Tyre. Then she will go back to her harlot's wages and will play the harlot with all the kingdoms on the face of the earth.
18
Her gain and her harlot's wages will be set apart to the LORD; it will not be stored up or hoarded, but her gain will become sufficient food and choice attire for those who dwell in the presence of the LORD.
Ezekiel 26:1-28
1
Now in the eleventh year, on the first of the month, the word of the LORD came to me saying,
2
"Son of man, because Tyre has said concerning Jerusalem, 'Aha, the gateway of the peoples is broken; it has opened to me. I shall be filled, [now that] she is laid waste,'
3
therefore thus says the Lord GOD, 'Behold, I am against you, O Tyre, and I will bring up many nations against you, as the sea brings up its waves.
4
'They will destroy the walls of Tyre and break down her towers; and I will scrape her debris from her and make her a bare rock.
5
'She will be a place for the spreading of nets in the midst of the sea, for I have spoken,' declares the Lord GOD, 'and she will become spoil for the nations.
6
'Also her daughters who are on the mainland will be slain by the sword, and they will know that I am the LORD.'"
7
For thus says the Lord GOD, "Behold, I will bring upon Tyre from the north Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, king of kings, with horses, chariots, cavalry and a great army.
8
"He will slay your daughters on the mainland with the sword; and he will make siege walls against you, cast up a ramp against you and raise up a large shield against you.
9
"The blow of his battering rams he will direct against your walls, and with his axes he will break down your towers.
10
"Because of the multitude of his horses, the dust [raised by] them will cover you; your walls will shake at the noise of cavalry and wagons and chariots when he enters your gates as men enter a city that is breached.
11
"With the hoofs of his horses he will trample all your streets. He will slay your people with the sword; and your strong pillars will come down to the ground.
12
"Also they will make a spoil of your riches and a prey of your merchandise, break down your walls and destroy your pleasant houses, and throw your stones and your timbers and your debris into the water.
13
"So I will silence the sound of your songs, and the sound of your harps will be heard no more.
14
"I will make you a bare rock; you will be a place for the spreading of nets. You will be built no more, for I the LORD have spoken," declares the Lord GOD.
15
Thus says the Lord GOD to Tyre, "Shall not the coastlands shake at the sound of your fall when the wounded groan, when the slaughter occurs in your midst?
16
"Then all the princes of the sea will go down from their thrones, remove their robes and strip off their embroidered garments. They will clothe themselves with trembling; they will sit on the ground, tremble every moment and be appalled at you.
17
"They will take up a lamentation over you and say to you, 'How you have perished, O inhabited one, From the seas, O renowned city, Which was mighty on the sea, She and her inhabitants, Who imposed her terror On all her inhabitants!
18
'Now the coastlands will tremble On the day of your fall; Yes, the coastlands which are by the sea Will be terrified at your passing.'"
19
For thus says the Lord GOD, "When I make you a desolate city, like the cities which are not inhabited, when I bring up the deep over you and the great waters cover you,
20
then I will bring you down with those who go down to the pit, to the people of old, and I will make you dwell in the lower parts of the earth, like the ancient waste places, with those who go down to the pit, so that you will not be inhabited; but I will set glory in the land of the living.
21
"I will bring terrors on you and you will be no more; though you will be sought, you will never be found again," declares the Lord GOD.

Luke 9:10-17
10
When the apostles returned, they gave an account to Him of all that they had done. Taking them with Him, He withdrew by Himself to a city called Bethsaida.
11
But the crowds were aware of this and followed Him; and welcoming them, He [began] speaking to them about the kingdom of God and curing those who had need of healing.
12
Now the day was ending, and the twelve came and said to Him, "Send the crowd away, that they may go into the surrounding villages and countryside and find lodging and get something to eat; for here we are in a desolate place."
13
But He said to them, "You give them [something] to eat!" And they said, "We have no more than five loaves and two fish, unless perhaps we go and buy food for all these people."
14
(For there were about five thousand men.) And He said to His disciples, "Have them sit down [to eat] in groups of about fifty each."
15
They did so, and had them all sit down.
16
Then He took the five loaves and the two fish, and looking up to heaven, He blessed them, and broke [them], and kept giving [them] to the disciples to set before the people.
17
And they all ate and were satisfied; and the broken pieces which they had left over were picked up, twelve baskets [full].
Mark 8:22-26
22
And they came to Bethsaida. And they brought a blind man to Jesus and implored Him to touch him.
23
Taking the blind man by the hand, He brought him out of the village; and after spitting on his eyes and laying His hands on him, He asked him, "Do you see anything?"
24
And he looked up and said, "I see men, for I see [them] like trees, walking around."
25
Then again He laid His hands on his eyes; and he looked intently and was restored, and [began] to see everything clearly.
26
And He sent him to his home, saying, "Do not even enter the village."

Job 42:6
Therefore I retract, And I repent in dust and ashes."
Isaiah 61:3
To grant those who mourn [in] Zion, Giving them a garland instead of ashes, The oil of gladness instead of mourning, The mantle of praise instead of a spirit of fainting. So they will be called oaks of righteousness, The planting of the LORD, that He may be glorified.
Daniel 9:3
So I gave my attention to the Lord God to seek [Him by] prayer and supplications, with fasting, sackcloth and ashes.
John 3:5
Jesus answered, "Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.
John 3:6
"That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.
