How do the beasts groan! the herds of cattle are perplexed, because they have no pasture; yea, the flocks of sheep are made desolate.
Even the beasts of the field pant for You; For the water brooks are dried up And fire has devoured the pastures of the wilderness.
1 Kings 18:5
Then Ahab said to Obadiah, "Go through the land to all the springs of water and to all the valleys; perhaps we will find grass and keep the horses and mules alive, and not have to kill some of the cattle."
How long is the land to mourn And the vegetation of the countryside to wither? For the wickedness of those who dwell in it, Animals and birds have been snatched away, Because [men] have said, "He will not see our latter ending."
"For even the doe in the field has given birth only to abandon [her young], Because there is no grass.
"The wild donkeys stand on the bare heights; They pant for air like jackals, Their eyes fail For there is no vegetation.
Therefore the land mourns, And everyone who lives in it languishes Along with the beasts of the field and the birds of the sky, And also the fish of the sea disappear.
For we know that the whole creation groans and suffers the pains of childbirth together until now.
