A Psalm of David. The earth is the LORD'S, and all it contains, The world, and those who dwell in it.

The heavens are the heavens of the LORD, But the earth He has given to the sons of men.

"For she does not know that it was I who gave her the grain, the new wine and the oil, And lavished on her silver and gold, [Which] they used for Baal.

"The God who made the world and all things in it, since He is Lord of heaven and earth, does not dwell in temples made with hands;

nor is He served by human hands, as though He needed anything, since He Himself gives to all [people] life and breath and all things;

for in Him we live and move and exist, as even some of your own poets have said, 'For we also are His children.'

Instruct those who are rich in this present world not to be conceited or to fix their hope on the uncertainty of riches, but on God, who richly supplies us with all things to enjoy.

The LORD God commanded the man, saying, "From any tree of the garden you may eat freely;

"Every moving thing that is alive shall be food for you; I give all to you, as [I gave] the green plant.

"For by these He judges peoples; He gives food in abundance.

He causes the grass to grow for the cattle, And vegetation for the labor of man, So that he may bring forth food from the earth,

And wine which makes man's heart glad, So that he may make [his] face glisten with oil, And food which sustains man's heart.

They all wait for You To give them their food in due season.

You give to them, they gather [it] up; You open Your hand, they are satisfied with good.

He has given food to those who fear Him; He will remember His covenant forever.

Who gives food to all flesh, For His lovingkindness is everlasting.

The eyes of all look to You, And You give them their food in due time.

You open Your hand And satisfy the desire of every living thing.

Who executes justice for the oppressed; Who gives food to the hungry. The LORD sets the prisoners free.

He gives to the beast its food, [And] to the young ravens which cry.

He will dwell on the heights, His refuge will be the impregnable rock; His bread will be given [him], His water will be sure.

'Give us this day our daily bread.

"For this reason I say to you, do not be worried about your life, [as to] what you will eat or what you will drink; nor for your body, [as to] what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing?

"Look at the birds of the air, that they do not sow, nor reap nor gather into barns, and [yet] your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not worth much more than they?

and yet He did not leave Himself without witness, in that He did good and gave you rains from heaven and fruitful seasons, satisfying your hearts with food and gladness."
